Oh, so this is a tall tale?

Well, it's not a short one.

This is a dialogue from "Big Fish". Its one of my favourite movies and probably the best sob-genre movie I have ever seen....No i have not forgotten Shawshank Redemption. And without any inch of doubt it is Burton's greatest.

"There's a time when a man needs to fight and a time when he needs to accept that his destiny's lost, the ship has sailed and that only a fool will co
ntinue. The truth is I've always been a fool. "

Another one from the don't get the wrong idea .the movie is not about the heroics of our hero...yup, the protagonist is brave and supposedly does exceptional things but that might even be almost inconsequential to the message given by the movie.
If you are not a fan of Albert Finney or Jessica Lange already you'll become one. If you are not a fan of Ewan Mcgregor then i don't know on what criteria you judge an actor and this movie won't make any difference( although he is brilliant as always).
If you have seen Almost Famous you already are a fan of Billy Crudup...this movie only adds to that.
If you are not a fan of Tim Burton, stop reading this post. Now.

But this post is not only about Big Fish. Pearl Jam's "Man of the hour" is on the soundtrack of the movie and it plays towards the end of the movie. It is one of my favourite PJ songs.Today I listened to the acoustic version of this song (Pearl Jam Live at Benaroya Hall) ...its superb and it made me write this blog. Lyrics are based on the movie and are simply beautiful.

Tidal waves don’t beg forgiveness
Crashed and on their way
Father he enjoyed collisions; others walked away
A snowflake falls in may.
And the doors are open now as the bells are ringing out
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.

Nature has its own religion; gospel from the land
Father ruled by long division, young men they pretend
Old men comprehend.

And the sky breaks at dawn; shedding light upon this town
They’ll all come ‘round
Cause the man of the hour is taking his final bow
Goodbye for now.

And the road
The old man paved
The broken seams along the way
The rusted signs, left just for me
He was guiding me, love, his own way
Now the man of the hour is taking his final bow
As the curtain comes down
I feel that this is just goodbye for now.

How can anybody not like PEARL JAM.

If you haven't watched Big Fish yet watch it now but before that listen to this song!!
